What is bio-free diesel (B0)?

Bio-free diesel – often labelled B0 or "diesel without FAME" – is diesel with no biodiesel blended in. Standard EU pump diesel contains up to 7% biodiesel; B0 leaves it out entirely and is pure mineral (or synthetic) diesel.

Why choose B0?

Biodiesel attracts water and feeds the microbial growth known as "diesel bug", and it ages faster than mineral diesel. For boats that are laid up for long periods, that have older fuel systems, or that cruise into regions with uncertain fuel quality, a fill of B0 stores far better and reduces the risk of blocked filters and injector trouble.

Availability

B0 is a specialist grade. Only a handful of stations stock it, usually those catering to long-distance cruisers and professional operators. The map below shows every station that currently offers it.
