What is gasoline?

Gasoline (petrol) is the fuel for spark-ignition engines: most outboard motors, personal watercraft, dinghy and tender engines, and some older sportsboats. At the pump it is usually the same 95-octane E5 or E10 that cars use.

Ethanol and your engine

E10 contains up to 10% ethanol, which absorbs water and can attack older fuel lines, tanks and carburettors. For outboards – especially two-strokes and anything more than a few years old – prefer E5 ("Super") where available, do not leave ethanol fuel in the tank over winter, and use a fuel stabiliser.

Availability

Fewer marina fuel berths sell gasoline than diesel, and some keep it only in cans or at a separate pump. The stations below are the ones that offer it.
